Mulberry Inn Golfing Breaks

It must be the bracing breeze from the Welsh and Border Hills which makes golf in this region an even more than ever popular pursuit. If golf is high on your list of recreational activities why not treat yourself during your stay? With Chester to the East and Snowdonia National Park to the West it’s a short trip from England but a big change in atmosphere, culture and countryside. There are lots of enticing ‘come and play me’ golf courses here. The Borderlands has some of the finest parkland courses in Wales, with lush fairways set in rolling countryside. There’s plenty to test low handicappers as well as the more novice golfer. Like the Vale of Llangollen Golf Club – the only inland course in North Wales to hold HSBC Gold status or Hennle Park where the Greens are built to USGA Specifications. You can even play in two countries in one round at Llanymynech – it’s so close to the border that three of its holes are actually in England.

An 18 hole course located within 200 acres of rolling Welsh countryside. The course has been carefully designed and maintained to provide a firm but fair golfing challenge. Essentially a championship course with manicured fairways and superb greens nestled on the banks of the River Dee and overlooked by the glorious Welsh hills. The Vale of Llangollen is regarded as one of the top golf courses in Wales and it has become a highly favoured venue for many County, National and Professional events.

Perched on top of a prominent hill and surrounded by sheer cliff faces, Llanymynech Golf Club offers a unique challenge to all golfers from the aspiring amateur to the seasoned pro. The course boasts a unique claim to fame in that you can play one round of golf in two separate countries, courtesy of Offa’s Dyke running through our course. On the 4th hole you tee off in Wales and putt out in England. The 5th and 6th hole remain in England before you are cordially welcomed back into Wales on the 7th tee.
