Parts of The Mulberry Inn are 18th century; other areas were built more recently; all guest bedrooms are on the first floor. Reception, the bar and the dining rooms are on the ground floor although the main dining room is split level with 2 steps at the entrance too. The main staircase has 15 steps and a handrail and throughout the building all doors are of a standard size. We are very happy to assist and guest with any disability that is within our capabilities. We can print any of our documents or menus in larger print or read them out to guests with impaired vision. Our bedrooms are all light and airy and many of the en-suites have walk in showers. Please be aware there is little in the way of public transport in this region and a mobile phone signal is not guaranteed because of all the hills.
The nearest railway station is Chirk – about 5 miles away; buses for this location stop outside the railway station but they are few and far between.
Wrexham and Prestige Taxis (01978 357777) offer Accessible Cabs by arrangement.
Prior to arrival if you have any queries or require any assistance please phone 01691 718281 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
CAR PARKING AND ARRIVAL:
There is a large level car park at the rear of the inn with a relatively level footpath leading to the Reception entrance; the car park is lit when appropriate and assistance is available with luggage on request. Check in is from 3pm. At quiet times the inn is not staffed during the period before this.
There is a Lounge and Reception Area and both have sofas; the lounge is carpeted whereas the Reception area has a tiled vestibule and traditional wooden floor. There is a house phone and local information and a selection of maps are all available. The Pheasant Bar is adjacent Reception and has a slate floor and some fixed seating. On check in we will show you the main areas of the hotel.
STAIRS, LANDINGS AND CORRIDORS:
The main staircase has fifteen steps and a handrail; the corridors are well lit and carpeted. All bedrooms are on the first floor.
BEDROOMS & EN-SUITES:
All bedrooms are on the first floor; many of the en-suites have separate walk-in shower and these can be requested at the time of booking. Some of the beds are “zip and link” and can be configured to suit. The house bedding is Duck down and feather but Non-allergenic alternatives may be pre-requested. The decor is light and airy and there is plenty of natural light in all main areas. Each room has a bedside telephone and flat-screen television with text available. All guest rooms have fitted carpet and bathrooms have tiled floors.
MAIN DINING ROOM:
The main dining room is accessed by two steps. Dinner and breakfast are served at individual tables and is waiter/waitress service. Gluten free dishes are available on request. Breakfast includes a cold buffet but assistance is readily available. We have a secondary, smaller, dining room without steps and – by prior arrangement – this may be available on request.
Because of the age of the premises we are most regrettably not ideal for those with mobility issues. Because of the remote location we are not suited to those without their own transport either. We will do all we can to make guests comfortable and make the best of that which is available but if accessibility of the accommodation is foremost in your needs this hotel may not be ideal sorry.
For 2018 we are looking into the provision of some ground floor accommodation and also a ground floor accessible toilet and possibly a lift too. Announcements will be made when appropriate.
